Steel sheet piling is a rolled structural steel sheet with interlocks enabling sheets to join together to form a continuous wall.
They can be used for both permanent and temporary applications.
Telescopic leader rigs are the most commonly used plant for installing sheet piles thanks to their performance with vibratory hammers and auger drive units. They can pitch, drive, and extract sheet piles up to 19m long, and easily switch between driving, augering, and pressing, making them highly versatile.
Due to the variable moment hammer this minimises vibration during installation and extraction. Set-up times are under 30 minutes, and the tracked carrier system provides high mobility on all sites.
Side grip vibratory hammers provide the reach and access of an excavator for installing sheet piles. The ‘side grip’ function allows piles to be gripped from the side, enabling the excavator to pitch and drive piles up to 13m long.
These machines are suitable for specific ground conditions; however, by treating the ground prior to driving the piles (pre-augering), HFLT Ltd can, from years of experience, advise on the suitability of the rig in relation to anticipated ground conditions and any other environmental factors.
